[1] Eliza Majors was b. abt. 1805 in Maryland. In 1850, the family lived in District 13, Doddridge, Virginia. Brother Asa is enumerated with the family on August 6th. Brothers Daniel and Andrew are listed as 9 mos and 10 mos old. meaning Daniel was born abt. November 1849 and Andrew was not born until abt. December 1849. By 1860, the family lives in Tompkins, Warren County, Illinois and the name is spelled "Haines." Daughter Naomi is not listed, suggesting she died young, but William is listed as a four year old. The children older than Francis M. haved all moved on. In 1870, Jacob and Eliza live with sons Daniel and Jacob in Township 10 Range 4, Henderson County, Illnois. By 1880, there is no census record for them, but family records say Jacob died in Neodesha, Wilson County Kansas. Eliza must have died in the same time frame.

[1] Elizabeth Exline d. 1862, Pella Post Office, Lake Prairie, Marion County, Iowa where the family was also enumerated in the 1860 census. Elias served in 138th Illinos Infantry according to a Pension Application filed by wife #2 Rachael Minear Haynes (see below).
[2] Sarah Jane Haines Kirwin died taking care of her daughter, Edith and Edith's son, Jim in the 1918 Influenza Epidemic. All three died.
[3] 1860 is the birth date in various family documents, however, Sophia Dora is not listed on the 1860 census which was enumerated on 3 August 1860 and shows the rest of the family. The 1870 census record, enumerated the 9th of June (6 days after her birthday) lists her as age 9 and puts her birth in 1861, which seems to explain the discrepancy. The 1900 census states that Dora was born in June 1860, but lists her age as 39 and estimates her birth in 1861 - go figure.
[4] The 1900 & 1910 censuses shows Dora S. and John Hopkins living in Sepulpa, Creek Nation, Indian Territory, OK. In 1900, three children live with them, although the census says Dora had six children of which 4 are living. Children are: Maude G. Hopkins (b. Nov 1883, KS), Hermal Hopkins (b. Nov 1884, KS), and Clyde Hopkins (b. Aug 1894, OK). John Hopkins was born April 8, 1861 and died August 7, 1939, he and Dora are both buried in the Covey Cemetery in Jenks, OK. On the same census page live Charles B and Mary Hopkins with children James and Carrie - all are from Illinois; John's family?
