[3] 1851 Census indicates Joseph is working as a Pawnbroker's Apprentice. In 1881, the family lives at 57 Union St., Stockport. By 1901, Joseph and family live at 20 Cambridge St., Stockport, Cheshire. His wife, Eliza ?? was b. abt. 1833 in Stockport, Cheshire. Children are : Elizabeth b. abt. 1856, Stockport, Emma, b. abt. 1861, Stockport, Eliza J., b. abt. 1867, Stockport and Mary H. b. abt. 1871, Stockport.

[5] In 1881, Christopher and family lives at the Abbey, Whalley, Clitheroe, Lancashire working as a weaver. 1891 Census shows Christopher living in Whalley, Clitheroe, Lancashire and working as a Cotton Weaver. His wife Ann was b. abt. 1838 Wiswell. Lancashire. Children are: Mary Jane, b. abt. 1863 Billington, Lancashire and John W. b. abt. 1865 Billington, Lancashire.

[6] In 1891, John and Anne work as Headmasters at Church Street National School (Parochial) in Warrington, Lancashire. Children: John C, b. abt. 1870 in Warrington, Lancashire lives with them as Architect's Assistant and Annie, b. abt. 1874 in Warrington, Lancashire is a Scholar at Liverpool Cottage.

[7] Frances A. Lucy Mann Dewhurst was the daughter of Rev. William Henry Mann, the REgistrar of Lichfield. In 1851, George B. is a 7 year old Scholar; in 1861, George is listed as a Draper's Assistant, age 18.

[8] Birth calculated upon enumeratrion of Richard, age seven months old at the time of the 1851 census which was taken 30 March. In 1891 a Richard Dewhurst, Cotton Spinner, boards with the family of William Smith at 20 Sizer Street, Preston, Lancashire. He is listed as married, so his family must live elsewhere.

[1] By 1871, George is listed as a "Commissioner Assistant Cotton Trade L.P." and he lists his birthplace as Lancaster, Manchester. the family lives at 71 Lancaster Gate, Paddington, Marylebone, London. The household includes Harriett, 24, a visitor, from Lancashire, Manchester (likely a relative) and Sarah Neve, governess, from Brighton, Sussex and nine servants. In 1881, George Bakewell Dewhurst is listed as a "Merchant in Cotton Trade L.P." The family lives at Oughtrington House, Lymm, Cheshire with twelve servants. By 1891, George B. is listed as a Justice of the Peace and Merchant at Oughtrington St Peters, Lymm, Cheshire and still maintains 11 servants.

Knutsford, Cheshire and lives at Beechwood Lodge, Lymm, Cheshire. Also enumerated in the household is William A. Dewhurst, age 29, cousin, L.P. Chairman of Local Urban District Council, b. Lymm, Cheshire.

[4] Annie M. ?? was b. abt. 1867 in Scotland

[5] Ethel N. ?? Dewhurst was b. abt. 1872 in Southport, Lancashire. In 1901, Harry and Ethel have one son, Robert C. Dewhurst, age 6.

Gerard is listed as an undergraduate at Trinity, Cambridge in the 1891 census. In 1901 he lives with his wife Mary ?? Dewhurst at Oughtrington Hall, Lymm, Cheshire.

[6] In 1891, Cyril Peter Dewhurst is a scholar at The Cross, St. Wystan, Repton, South Derbyshire. He studies under Clerk of Holy Orders, Schoolmaster, Arthur Catley. Eleanor Mary Wrigley was b. in Lancashire. He became a Major in his lifetime.
